Over 50 years ago, the Sena family started a diner/donut shop just outside Mayville, NY. After his duty in Asia during WWII, armed with a little capital, a lot of ambition and a hard work ethic, Joe Sena (shown in photo) and his wife and partner, Flo started the Mar-Mar, named after their oldest daughter Mary Margaret. Well-known within a few years for their excellent steaks, Italian cuisine, homemade bread and those famous pies, the Senas decided to expand and opened a liquor store in the 60’s. Times changed and so did "JS Liquors". People started discovering fine wines and Mar-Mar sought out these wines in order to offer what no wine shop in the area could supply. Their quest to bring the best wines and values to their customers took Joe and Flo to Italy, France and Spain on numerous occasions. On one such trip, they returned with a Sicilian donkey cart (shown here)--- Sicily being the birthplace of Joe's parents. That beautiful hand-painted cart is still on display in the store and is considered a piece of art, as well as a piece of history. Today, Joseph and Florence's daughters continue to offer you what our parents did in the past. We have many exclusive and limited wines and liquors at excellent prices. We maintain the high quality wine selection many have come to expect from the Mar-Mar. Our knowledgeable staff is always ready to assist you with your selections. We continue to be your family owned and operated wine and liquor shop. We thank all of our valued customers for their loyal patronage throughout the years.
